Kendra has been emulating dance forms since her youth, studying choreography videos for hours, acting as a member of her high school dance team, and even practicing freestyle forms of street dance at Detroit area venues and festivals.
In 2005, she discovered bellydance and began classes with Aziza Ammar, where she studied Middle Eastern music, classic Oriental cabaret stage presence and show structure, and Lebanese, Turkish, and Egyptian bellydance forms.
She furthered her knowledge by joining Unveiled Dance Company in 2006, which explores traditional cabaret, tribal fusion, and the modern theatrical aspects of bellydance. Since then, she has studied with several dance teachers throughout the nation, exploring ethnic dance forms and various bellydance styles.
Kendra has been a featured dancer for several projects and venues including the GreektownDetroit.org commercial, Greektown Casino and MGM Grand Casino Detroit, the OLC short film project, the wrap party for the feature film Kill The Irishman, the music video for Who Owns My Heart by Miley Cyrus, and the 2009 and 2010 Detroit Free Press Marathon.
Her presence in the Arab-American community is found through weddings, restaurants, cultural events, and night clubs in Southeast Michigan. She has also been a featured performer for international acts such as Chantal Chamandy, DJ Christopher Lawrence, DJ Joey Pistols, King Jazzy, The High Strung, and Zap Toro.
Currently, Kendra strives to preserve the traditions and cultural aspects of bellydance, while educating others on its modern interpretations. She performs as a soloist in collaboration with various artists, with Unveiled Dance Company , and with Detroit Bellydance , through multiple venues and stage shows.
